Swedish Car Day in Brookline, Massachusetts - August 29, 2010

I came across these pictures taken by Craig Grieco at the Eleventh Annual Swedish Car Day at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts. This annual event is where owners of old and new Volvos and SAABs come together. These pictures, show a good amount of the history and evolution of these two brands. Pictures from Supercar Saturdays - September 4, 2010

Yesterday I went to the last Supercar Saturday of 2010. The venue had to be changed from The Glen to Autowerks for this one. The turnout was still good though. I took about 100 pictures and you can see them all here.

The first thing I noticed was an odd Nissan GT-R. For some reason, it had different color rims on each side of the vehicle.

My favorite car was a much older Japanese car though. This red Toyota Celica was in excellent shape. It is so rare for me to see these models, so I was especially pleased to see it in such good condition.

I did arrive late, but it was still worth the trip for me. The set-up at Autowerks is a little disconnected, but it gets the job done.

EK Hatchbacks from HT7 in Toronto

Teknotik threw the all Honda (and Acura) show HT7 on Aug. 29th in Toronto. The EK hatches got together to do a photo shoot. The sixth generation hatchback is my favorite Civic, so this really got my attention. Emilio, from Two Litre Media, took some great pics of the cars. ISO II in Mooresville, NC

A couple of weeks ago, the guys at Insane Stance & Offset threw ISO II. This was a event geared exclusively at people who are serious about the stance of their cars. This movement has come under criticism lately because the focus is not really speed an performance. I appreciate it, though, because people have been modifying their cars for looks for over half a century and it has really brought together different groups of car enthusiasts. It is fun to see Nissans, Audis, Scions, VWs, etc. all hanging out together.

Anyway, ISO has been getting bigger and bigger, so they put together this free event. The pictures that Ryan Norris took are really stunning. You can see all of the pics at www.isomeets.com.

Hot Like the Sun

I consider the Honda Civic del Sol to be one of the more forgotten Hondas of the 90's. Probably because it was sold in relatively low numbers and was more expensive and less practical than a regular Civic. This car was important, though, because of its unique body style and (available) VTEC engine. But if that won't get you the attention you deserve, you can always paint it orange. The results are truly impressive.

These photos were taken by Daniel Vicente and you can find the full set on Flickr. Dan's photos do a fantastic job of capturing this del Sol. The black spoiler, hood, and Kobe VIZ-5 wheels contrast well against the car's orange paint. The Thule roof-rack also proves that even a del Sol can be used as a hauler for recreational activities.

Roundup: Coverage from Formula Drift Round 5 - Las Vegas

Last weekend Round 5 of Formula Drift's 2010 season took place in Las Vegas. There was some pretty nice nighttime drifting going on in Vegas. You may already know that Tyler McQuarrie was the overall winner and that Team Falken dominated. Everything Drift does a good job of summarizing the results in the link below. Check out the pics. Cruising Down Palomar Mountain

I saw these pics from Palomar Mountain on 1904 Photography and I wanted to share. Every weekend, Phillip is out on Palomar Mountain shooting the cars, motorcycles, and even bicyclists that ride up and down South Grade Road. Stuff like this makes me really jealous since Illinois is so flat. Check out his gallery of pics from Palomar Mountain on August 22, 2010.
