Audi Driving Experience: July 21, 2008

The Audi Driving Experience was a Chicago-area Audi track day. The day started out with rain, but luckily it stopped before our time to go out. After registration and some snacks we were escorted to a small classroom for a marketing spiel about how great the new A4 was. I won't bore you with the details but basically they touted the improved weight distribution, torque split, and selectable driving modes. We then got sent out to the autocross track to compare a an A4 3.2 Quattro to a C300 4Matic, IS250 AWD, and 328xi. I actually liked the Lexus IS the most out of the pack. It doesn't feel underpowered and felt a little more balanced and more eager to attack the corners. Next up was a few laps around the track following a pro driver in an S5. This was the most fun and also the most challenging. We drove German A4s since the US model doesn't exist yet. I later got to drive around an Audi S5. You have a chance of driving any model except for the R8. This was a lot of fun and the Audi Driving Experience is free. I suggest you sign up for one if it comes anywhere near you. www.audidrivingexperience.com
